When my kids were little, I used to have many Easter egg hunts around the house to keep them entertained while I cleaned and to help them practice for going to a community egg hunt. They were usually too shy to fight others kids for eggs at those big hunts though so we started getting together with cousins to have our own Easter egg hunts instead. We saw an idea for a glow-in-the-dark egg hunt several years ago and loved it.

It still gets dark early enough this time of year and worked perfectly for a fun activity right after dying Easter eggs. Our kids thought it was awesome so it has become a tradition the past few years.

How To Have an Easter Egg Night Hunt ::

Get a bunch of finger lights. We ordered a bunch from Amazon and they work perfectly! We have used the same ones for a few years and they still work great!

  2. Stuff plastic eggs with a finger light (bonus candy or surprise, optional).

  3. Be sure to remember how many eggs you will be hiding.

  4. The kids wait in the house while adults go outside and hide the eggs. Don’t forget to close the curtains to prevent peeking! It’s fun to hide them in harder places as the kids getting older.

  5. Let the hunt begin!  We count to make sure they get them all and love to watch them enjoy their treasures.

*Tip from experience: We tried using glow sticks the first year and it didn’t work very well.

I just love watching my kids enjoy the holidays and traditions.
