Write about me…hmm…ok… write about me?!…
This is hard y’all! I really don’t know what you guys would want to know about me so let’s start with the basics. My name is Stephanie. I’m married to an amazing man who has put up with me for almost 20 years now. He really deserves a medal, I can be a lot. We have three amazing children. Two boys that are 11 and 14 and a 19-year-old daughter. We have lived in Idaho Falls since 2000. (There, that’s a good start; basics out of the way.)
I was born and partially raised in Minot, North Dakota; we moved to Elko, Nevada when I was ten. When I was about 16, I met my now sister-in-law and when I was 19, I met her brother when he came to visit one Christmas. We started dating and he came back for a few more holiday visits. At the end of my senior year of high school, I got pregnant. He was away working, but we managed to move in together right before we became parents. (It was a little stressful.) We moved to Idaho Falls in 2000 right before our daughter’s 1st birthday. The next year, we bought a house and got married (yeah, we’re a little backwards). I will be the first to tell any teenager that it usually doesn’t work like this. It has been amazing and hard, but we have managed to make it work.
I love crafting, mostly with yarn. If you find me on Instagram (my_life_in_stitches), you’ll see all the fun stuff I’ve made. I love to make gifts; this year I am making hooded character scarves for my brothers’ munchkins. I also love to cross stitch. I don’t get to craft as much as I would like to, but I do try to make time for it.
I love to read and when I find a good book, I don’t get much sleep until I have finished it. I’m really in trouble if it’s a good series. I’ve recently gotten into audiobooks. I love the library’s OverDrive app. (You should really check it out.) It’s wonderful to listen to a book while I’m folding laundry or crocheting – anytime, really, when my hands are busy. I recently had to drive to Rexburg frequently for work and audiobooks made that long drive go by quickly. I plan to join the Moms Blog book club; come join me!
I try to be an outdoorsy person, but it doesn’t usually work out in my favor. I have two shades, snowman and lobster. No joke, I burn and peel; no tanning for me. I once had a friend who jokingly told me she couldn’t be friends with a vampire. This was after I got a sunburn while sitting outside with her for five minutes. But my family loves camping, fishing, and riding the side-by-sides we just got, so I tend to figure it out and go too. We are also a hunting family. My husband and two of our kids are avid hunters and I am happy that my freezers are full all year because of their labors.
I love tea with honey, and I want to love coffee but have decided that I really just love creamer. But you could always bribe me with a mocha frappe. And I am definitely not a coffee snob because McDonald’s Frappe tastes just as good as Starbucks.
I’m excited to join the Idaho Falls Moms Blog! I have always loved to write. English was always my best subject in high school and college. I can’t wait to share with everyone, and I hope you’ll get something out of my stories – whether it be a good laugh or some good advice.
