Hi, I’m Tiffany and if napping were an Olympic sport, I’d take home the gold every time. As far as I’m concerned, that’s all you really need to know about me, but I still have 965 words to fill so here goes!
I was adopted when I was almost two from South Carolina. I spent most of my growing-up years in Rigby; when I was in 8th grade, we moved to Rexburg where I finished my 9th grade year. After that, it was 10th in Highland, Utah; 11th in Star Valley, Wyoming; and back to Rigby for my senior year. As much as I hated moving so often, it allowed me to cultivate loads of friendships that I treasure. I was pretty insecure in high school, so I compensated by being as loud and obnoxious as I could possibly be.
My junior year I went on my very first date. Some friends and I decided to take our dates 4-wheeler riding up a mountain and then have a picnic at the top. We all started up the hill and my date and I were the last in line. Dirt was flying everywhere, and I couldn’t see a thing, which really became a problem when everyone stopped up ahead and I slammed into the back of the couple in front of us. Everyone was physically fine, but it’s been years and I still cringe every time I think of the look on everyone’s faces. So, there you have it, my most embarrassing story (this is the quality content you get when you ask me for 1000 words). Walker, if you happen to read this, thanks for being a trooper through that date…and also for taking the wheel after the crash.
After high school, I started at BYU-I and quickly decided it was not the place for me. I had great roommates while I was there though and they are some of my best friends…so not a total loss. I dropped out and moved to Idaho Falls, into a home with a couple of other ladies. It was a blast! Lots of late-night chats, laughing until we nearly peed, and just a general good time. During this time, I met a really nice, but incredibly shy man online. We found out we lived less than a mile away from each other, and maybe if we had spent more time outside instead of on the internet, we could have met in person. Anyway, we started hanging out and I really liked him. He was funny and kind and cute, but every time I asked him what we “were” he’d panic and say, “just friends”. After a while I decided we’d been just friends for long enough, and I took a job as a nanny in Houston. I told him I loved him, and to let me know when he was ready. We talked every day and continued to build our “friendship” long distance. Meanwhile, I was having the time of my life in Houston. I learned to be comfortable being alone, had a blast with the kiddos I was caring for, and spent time exploring a new, beautiful city. My nanny family is the absolute best. When I was done nannying in Texas, I took a job in New York but made a pit stop back home to see my family for a few days. I spent a lot of time with Stetson, the internet guy. As I was driving to New York, somewhere in the middle of Nebraska, he called and told me he loved me. I was only in New York for a short time. I moved to Illinois and stayed with my brother and his family through the holidays. I decided to move back to Houston and live with my phenomenal nanny family. Seriously though, mega shout out to my TX family for taking such good care of me and letting me be a part of your family. Absolutely changed my life. Houston will forever be my favorite place and second home!
Stetson and I continued to do the long-distance thing. Our relationship grew and we were soon talking about getting married. I flew home in April 2016 and left engaged. I moved back in June and we got married July 29, 2016.
We decided to start our family pretty quickly after that, and just before our first anniversary, found out we were expecting. On St. Patrick’s Day our sweet little redhead, Sadielyn, was born.
She is her daddy’s twin but my personality double, and makes me wonder why I wasn’t nicer to my mom growing up. Life has obviously not been the same since, but it has been oh-so sweet. We laugh more than should be allowed, and spend our days in awe of the little spaz we created. I am fortunate to be able to stay home with her and spend my days chasing her around, wondering how such a small human can make such a massive mess.
When I’m not momming, I can usually be found in the kitchen. It is truly my happy place and I’m in a serious relationship with food. My other hobbies include: looking at dream Manhattan real estate, watching Hallmark movies and Forrest Gump for the millionth time, listening to Fleetwood Mac and Taylor Swift, dancing in my kitchen, going on drives, snuggling with our many pets, and eating my body weight in chocolate chip cookie dough. I think to most people looking in, our life looks pretty average, but it’s above and beyond anything I could have ever imagined for myself.
I never would have guessed that I would be a part of a blog for moms, but I’m so grateful that Idaho Falls Moms Blog is a part of my life. I’ve gained new friends and am surrounded by strong women. It’s amazing to see our community come together as mothers to support and love each other. It is such a joy to go to events and connect with you in person. I love sharing my thoughts on motherhood this way and connecting with others on this platform.
Good Job mommy I’m so glad your happy love you sherry
