We are mamas, we are warriors, and that means we work hard!

We are the world to our children which is a great privilege, but a draining work indeed.  That means… sometimes you need to treat yo self! I set a day aside every week to “pamper myself.”  Each Thursday I dedicate a little selfish time to myself. Don’t get any crazy ideas, I rarely drop more than $10 on myself, if that.  Normally it consists of allowing myself to put on a full face of makeup in the morning, dressing like a queen, curling my hair, and then putting the baby to bed early so I can get my bath bomb on.  There are some Thursdays, however, that I treat myself to something a little extra. Here are some of my local recommendations!

Get a manicure!

To be honest, I am not much of a pedicure girl (I have this weird toenail… we’ll just leave it at that), but I do love a good manicure.  Gel nails are the way to go! If you haven’t tried them yet, you are in for a treat. They last forever (by forever, I mean about 2-3 weeks.  4 weeks if you don’t pick at them). My regular salons are Ocean Nail Spa on Woodruff as well as Trendy Nails in the mall.

Literally, treat yourself.

I can’t rave enough about Love at First Bite; it’s the cutest little place with the yummiest gourmet treats.  They have everything from truffles to cupcakes to petit fours. If you’re a soda-lover like me, you know that there are a handful of options when you need a quick pick-me-up – like Pick Me Up behind the Edwards theater.  I love them not only for their drinks but for their incredible service!  The soda spot that I frequent the most, however, is Sodatopia in the parking lot of Rocknak’s on Broadway.  They have the most amazing flavors out of all the soda businesses I’ve tried (it doesn’t help that I live around the corner…)!

We want cheap thrills!

If you are a social butterfly, then grab a girlfriend and go watch a show at the Paramount Theatre!  I love the $3 ticket price and it gives me a chance to see what I missed at the big theater.  Their sister theatre Centre Twin in downtown actually does show new releases at a discounted price of $7/ticket!  However, if you prefer a night in to a night out, don’t forget about everything that the Idaho Falls Public Library has to offer.  I love curling up with a book on my “treat yo self” nights, but if you are in the mood to watch something instead of reading, then check out their movies available to rent.  They actually have a great selection and often have what I’m looking for when I can’t find something on Netflix, Hulu, Prime, or Redbox!

You can give yourself a million excuses, mama, but do yourself a favor and let your hair down once in a while!  Girl, treat yo self!
