When I became the mom of a toddler, I quickly learned that they have their own set of lessons for you to learn. Here are just a few that I have picked up:

  1. Toys need to be out of their box and laid out on the floor to breathe several times a day.
  2. If there is a button to push, especially a red one, push it.
  3. If you fold laundry, you better put it away immediately or your time is wasted.
  4. There is such a thing as a wrong way to put a sippy cup lid on.
  5. There are good colors and bad colors but it changes hourly.
  6. Diapers and clothes are only important to adults, so you should take them off and run free through the house.
  7. Boredom and curiosity are a dangerous combination.
  8. Silence is only golden during nap time; any other time, it is dangerous.
  9. You should taste everything once and if it’s gross, throw it.
  10. Forgive and forget no matter what because life is meant to be enjoyed and family loved.

Toddlers have such a simple view on life that I wish I could embrace every day. It can be so hard raising a toddler with a mind of their own but if we step back and take a moment to slow down, we can learn a lot from them.

Let’s all take a lesson from a toddler and learn to let go just a little.
