Idaho Falls Moms Blog is excited to feature Clandestine Kringle as our nonprofit of the month. Eastern Idaho is fortunate to have a wealth of nonprofit and service organizations that do so much good work in our area. By highlighting some of these groups, we hope to encourage moms and families to get involved and learn about all that our wonderful community has to offer.
Clandestine Kringle was founded in 2015 by an individual who would like to remain anonymous, and is currently an official nonprofit organization under the 501 (c ) 3 of the Domestic Violence Center of Southeast Idaho. The lead Elf, or “Elf Major,” Michele Mangum, believes that personal interaction, like caroling and direct giving of gifts to families, helps Clandestine Kringle stand out from other “adopt-a-family” organizations. With Kringle’s help, elves assisted 40 families between Blackfoot and Rigby during the 2015 winter holiday season. During the 2018 holiday season, the organization helped 87 families. Their goal is to provide a one-time hand up to more and more families every year.
Clandestine Kringle accepts individual and business volunteers. Individual volunteers can be Elf First Class (EFC), the elves that are responsible for helping to determine the families’ reasonable needs, and Elf in Charge (EIC), the elves that are responsible for shopping, wrapping, and delivering the gifts to the families. Individual volunteers can also help at fundraisers, as well as with cutting and tying blankets, wrapping, delivering, and/or caroling on delivery nights. Businesses can help Clandestine Kringle by adopting families with greater than five children.
Clandestine Kringle currently works in collaboration with a number of businesses and organizations, including Home Depot, Sleep in Heavenly Peace, and the BYU-I Automotive Program, among many others. This year, the local Boy Scouts of America is offering Clandestine Kringle “North Pole” space in their local building. Clandestine Kringle will also assist Bikers Against Bullies in building their own Christmas giving program.
Clandestine Kringle would love your support at this year’s fundraisers and events.
