East Idaho Moms is excited to feature The Domestic Violence & Assault Center (DVSAC) as our nonprofit for September 2020. Eastern Idaho is fortunate to have a wealth of nonprofit and service organizations. By highlighting some of these groups, we hope to encourage moms and families to get involved and learn about all that our wonderful community has to offer.
The mission of the DVSAC is to “eradicate violence, create safer communities, and change the way violent crimes are viewed and tolerated within our communities.” DVSAC is a 501(c) 3 organization, incorporated in 1978, that “coordinates services for child and adult survivors of violent crime; provides community education; and advocates for child and family issues.” DVSAC provides a multitude of services including crisis intervention, emergency shelter, forensic interviews, sexual assault exams, counseling, and advocacy to victims of domestic violence, child abuse, and sexual assault, families of homicide victims, and survivors of violent crimes.
DVSAC generally holds three fundraising events per year: Walk a Mile in Her Shoes, Leathers & Bling, and the Policeman’s Ball which is done in conjunction with the local Fraternal Order of Police. These events support services for victims of violent crime in southeast Idaho.
DVSAC has a 24-hour crisis hotline at 208-235-2412. All services are free and confidential.
The DVSAC office is located at 1050 Memorial Drive in Idaho Falls and is open Mondays through Fridays from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
