Is it worth it? Is it safe? Will it really help me? Could it really help others? Do you really make money? Will I have access to nurses and doctors? All of these may be questions that come to mind when considering participating in a clinical trial. But let me tell you, Dr. Baker and nurses Shelby and Nora answered all these questions and then some! And their answers brought a sense of comfort that had me wanting to learn all I could about participating in their studies!
Clinical Research Prime is located in one of the most beautiful buildings in Idaho Falls: The Healing Sanctuary on 13th Street. Dr. Baker is one of the country’s leading researchers and has been running successful research studies for 21 years. As a proponent of both integrative, functional health and standard care he has seen how beneficial these trials can be for his patients. He oversees all clinical trials and ensures they align with his mission of healing. Shelby and Nora are angels. They offer their cell phone numbers to all patients for access to their team at any time. This alone proved how committed they are to making the treatment process a comforting and positive experience. I wanted to learn more and had lots of questions for them.
So, why would a mom consider applying for a clinical study?
You are helping. Helping yourself and others. Every treatment currently prescribed and recommended has gone through extensive research before full approval. These investigational treatments through CR Prime are in the final phases of approval. Without studies like this, valuable treatments that change people’s lives would not be available. Your participation truly helps so many. And, it could help you! If you have been struggling with a medical issue and maybe just haven’t found a treatment that is giving you results that you want – why not try something new? Get treatment with constant support and feedback from your doctor and nurses while finding new and innovative treatment that works for you!
Gain a better understanding of your own health. Dr. Baker and his team will do a full consultation prior to beginning the study. This comprehensive look at your health and history will give you a better understanding of your symptoms and overall health. This has been known to uncover so much about patients’ health. For one woman, it was life-saving. She went to CR Prime to participate in a study and they discovered a cancer that if had not been found by Dr. Baker could have been devastating for her and her family. What an incredible outcome.
You are compensated. Patients are fully compensated every step of the way. Each visit you walk out the door with a loaded research debit card. No insurance is required, and there is no cost to you. All consultations, check-ups, and treatments are provided and you are compensated for your time and travel.
What about time and the qualification process?
Each study has an application window. Check their website or Facebook page for updates on studies. If one jumps out at you and you are interested in participating, the first step is to contact the office, Nora, or Shelby. “We want patients to have full access to us, and in turn Dr. Baker, throughout the entire study. Text, call – we are available.” This was amazing to me – you have direct contact with the nurses before you even get started. They will share information, answer questions, and provide a pre-screening checklist. If you find it to be the right fit and meet qualifications, they will schedule a consultation. CR Prime will take the time to outline the process completely to be sure you are comfortable and know exactly what to expect.
CR Prime has multiple studies going all the time. The duration and time commitment for each study varies. Some require a visit every 6 weeks, some may be more or less. I was shocked at the wide range of studies Dr. Baker conducts to treat a variety of medical conditions
A couple questions you may not know you have about this process…
Can I continue seeing my own doctor? Yes – if you have a doctor you love, continue seeing them. Dr. Baker will just want to know about any treatment you may currently be receiving. However, Dr. Baker is accepting new patients and is happy to treat you and your family in any way.
What if I start and am not a fan? Participation in the investigational study is strictly voluntary. If at any point you do not wish to continue, you may discuss this with CR Prime.
Could I have a placebo? As this is an investigational study, there is a chance that a participant could receive the placebo. Go into this with the mindset of helping make a new treatment available in the future.
It’s worth a shot! Check with CR Prime regularly to see if a study could be a good fit for you. You could truly be helping others and helping yourself all while having some extra money in your pocket.
Dr Baker and the staff at CR Prime have multiple amazing studies that are targeted to all age groups of women and children as well as men. They are now offering 3 different studies for women experiencing heavy menstrual bleeding. This bleeding could be attributed to the diagnosis of fibroids or just simply because they are having heavy monthly menstrual bleeding.
Dr Baker also has studies dealing with the surgically diagnosed endometriosis. He currently has 2 IUD device studies. He is also offering a great research opportunity for women who have had tubal sterilization to test a new birth control device similar to the nova-ring. CR Prime has several formula studies for new mothers who either chose to not breastfeed or were unable to breastfeed, this study is a great study that will offer you as the patient some compensation and formula for your infant at no cost. He is also currently looking for older individuals who suffer from heart disease and diabetes to try and reduce the chance of any future heart attacks and to hopefully help reduce HGBA1C levels. Finally, he has several studies to assist new moms who are struggling with postpartum depression. This is a scary time for new moms and the numbers of women affected by this are quite impressive.
Dr Baker and his staff have several exciting upcoming studies to treat a variety of syndromes and diseases. One of those studies they are very excited about is an ablation study to treat women with annoying heavy monthly menstrual bleeding, a pediatric influenza study to compare a new investigational flu medication compared to Tamiflu, and many others not listed that really could help.
