Idaho Falls Moms Blog is excited to feature Building Hope Today as our monthly nonprofit! Eastern Idaho is fortunate to have a wealth of nonprofit and service organizations. By highlighting some of these groups, we hope to encourage moms and families to get involved and learn about all that our wonderful community has to offer.

The mission of Building Hope Today is to prevent and reduce childhood sexual abuse. Building Hope Today is a 501(c) 3 organization that serves the victims of childhood sexual abuse through their “equipping legal track” of services, and children and families through their “advocacy work,” and “education/prevention work,” that creates awareness and understanding for parents, children and those charged with caring for them. Building Hope Today also serves law enforcement and victim care providers.

Events such as Idaho Gives (May 2020) and annual giving and training sponsorships help fund Building Hope Today’s training and education/prevention efforts.  This funding helps support core programs of Building Hope Today, which are to:

  • “Equip—Building Hope Today provides national experts to equip Multidisciplinary Teams with principles and practices to hold offenders accountable.

  • Care—Building Hope Today supports child advocacy teams who care for victims.

  • Advocate—Building Hope Today stands up for the rights of victims

  • Educate—Building Hope Today partners to provide prevention training for families and educators.”

According to their Project Manager, David Alexander, “Building Hope Today seeks to grow and expand its efforts to fight the “silent epidemic” of childhood sexual abuse.  With your help and awareness (we) can make parents vigilant and aware, train children to be on guard, and equip law enforcement to hold offenders accountable.  With your support (we) can reduce the frequency and impact of these horrific acts on our children.”
