East Idaho Moms is excited to feature Sleep in Heavenly Peace ID – Pocatello as our Nonprofit Spotlight for January 2022. Eastern Idaho is fortunate to have a wealth of nonprofit and service organizations. By highlighting some of these groups, we hope to encourage moms and families to get involved and learn about all that our wonderful community has to offer.
Founded in 2012, Sleep in Heavenly Peace is an organization of volunteers that builds and delivers beds to children ages three to seventeen who do not have a bed so that “no kid sleeps on the flood in our town!” This includes taking raw lumber and building, sanding, and staining it into bed frame pieces, and then delivering the beds with the frame, mattress, bedding, sheets, and pillow to children in need. The local organization, Sleep in Heavenly Peace ID- Pocatello, was founded in 2019 by Kaitlin McEwen, Chapter President, in order to help her community.
The nonprofit relies on donations. The Pocatello chapter’s donation form says:
Each bed that SHP delivers to a child sleeping on the floor offers comfort and safety. Oftentimes, the kids who get our beds have never owned a bed of their own. Every kid deserves a good night’s rest and for only $500, you can sponsor a whole bunk bed for 2 kiddos, complete with 2 mattresses, 2 pillows, 2 twin sheet sets, and 2 twin comforters. Your gift makes sure 2 deserving kiddos have a comfy place to lay their heads at night. By taking action today, you can experience the joy of making sure no kid sleeps on the floor in our town!
