East Idaho Moms is proud to highlight the Idaho Falls Symphony as our February 2021 Nonprofit Spotlight. Eastern Idaho is fortunate to have a wealth of nonprofit and service organizations. By highlighting some of these groups, we hope to encourage moms and families to get involved and learn about all that our wonderful community has to offer.
Based in Bonneville County since 1949, the Idaho Falls Symphony serves audiences from the greater East Idaho Region and now, via virtual concerts, it is enjoyed by household audiences worldwide. Many of its talented musicians reside between the Madison County area and Pocatello although some come from as far as western Wyoming and the Salt Lake City area to provide a fresh perspective on music that spans the centuries.
The Idaho Falls Symphony has two core programs to serve our community: concerts and education. The concerts, performed by adults yearly, occur between October and April in a six-concert series subscription. The education program is multi-facetes and includes a family concert, Chamber concerts, educational concerts, instrument petting zoos, and a free concert in the park in September. Additionally, the Idaho Falls Symphony runs the Idaho Falls Youth Symphony which serves area youth under the age of 18.
The Idaho Falls Symphony, through its Ambassador program, partners with local school districts to provide free professional performances. This is a wonderful way of representing their mission “to provide quality, live orchestral experiences of the world’s great music for the enjoyment, enrichment, and education of our audiences and Musicians.”
The Idaho Falls Symphony hosts two yearly fundraising events.
This Saturday, February 13, is their 17th annual Red Dress Concert, a collaborative effort with Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center, which raises awareness about women’s heart health.
Speakers and community members who have been impacted by heart disease speak at the event to encourage our patrons not to ignore the symptoms of heart attacks. A local gem, Treasure’s Formal Bridal & Tux, will often display a collection of red formal gowns. Tickets for this year’s virtual red dress event are $15 per household.
The second main fundraising event for the Idaho Falls Symphony will occur on March 27. This year’s gala, Let the Good Times Roll, will be held virtually, with options including charcuterie from Diabla’s Kitchen, sponsorship swag delivery, silent and live auctions, and performances by alumni of the Idaho Falls Symphony Youth Orchestras. Tickets for the March Gala event are just $25 per household.
