East Idaho Moms is excited to feature the Idaho Falls African American Alliance, Inc. as our nonprofit for January 2021. Eastern Idaho is fortunate to have a wealth of nonprofit and service organizations. By highlighting some of these groups, we hope to encourage moms and families to get involved and learn about all that our wonderful community has to offer.
The Idaho Falls African American Alliance, Inc. (AAA) is a 501c3 nonprofit organization that serves Idaho Falls and the surrounding community. The AAA “is committed to initiating dialogue and providing resources that contribute to the educational, economic and cultural growth and development of our community” and “promotes understanding and respect among all races.” The AAA demonstrates this by providing services such as tutoring and limited financial assistance via scholarships.
Funding for these scholarships is generally provided through the Martin Luther King Banquet/Silent Auction, the AAA’s annual community-wide staple event. Due to the novel coronavirus, the Banquet has been canceled for 2021.
Instead, a blood drive has been scheduled in partnership with the Red Cross on January 26th at Porterhouse, Inc. in Shelley, Idaho.
More information regarding the AAA in the Idaho Falls and surrounding areas can be found on their website at www.ifaaa.org, or by contacting the AAA President, David Snell, by phone at 208-569-6768 or by email at Sneldav2@isu.edu.
