East Idaho Moms is excited to feature My World Discovery Museum as our nonprofit for January 2023. Eastern Idaho is fortunate to have a wealth of nonprofit and service organizations. By highlighting some of these groups, we hope to encourage moms and families to get involved and learn about all that our wonderful community has to offer.
The My World Discovery Museum a hands on, STEM museum geared toward families and children of all ages located at 4155 Yellowstone Avenue in Chubbuck, Idaho, is a 501c3 that was established in 2018. The museum was co-founded by Natali McKee and Melody
Daniels, and is currently led by local community members who volunteer their time and skill to further the Museum. Its mission is “to awaken children’s natural curiosity about the world through interactive exhibits, opportunities, and programs.” Most of the museum’s programming takes place within the museum in the form of classes, activities, camps, and field trips. The museum also has an outreach program, “Discovery on the Go,” where exhibits are taken to classrooms and other community events.
The Museum hosts “A Day at Hogwarts” in Pocatello the last weekend of January every year, taking place, this year on January 27th and 28th.
Pocatello’s entire Veteran’s Memorial Building is turned into Hogwarts for this event. Guests enter through platform 9 ¾, and then participate in Hogwarts classes, get sorted into their proper house, are fitted for a wand, and are able to meet a variety of characters. It is described as an immersive, magical, hands-on experience for all. Tickets are only sold ahead of time. No tickets are sold at the door. This event is sure to sell out, so be sure to purchase tickets ahead of time!
